Adjusting volume applies a constant gain to your whole file, measured in decibels (dB). A positive value makes it louder, a negative value quieter. This tool applies the gain locally with the Web Audio API, so nothing is uploaded.
Pushing the gain too high can make the loudest peaks clip and distort. If your goal is simply “as loud as possible without clipping,” the Normalize tool is a better fit — it measures the peak for you. Use Volume when you want a specific, deliberate change.
