Changing speed re-times how fast the frames play back. This tool plays your clip at the chosen rate, redraws each frame onto a canvas, and records the result — so a 2× export plays through in half the time, while a 0.25× export takes four times as long.
Slowing footage below 0.5× looks smoothest when the source was shot at a high frame rate (60fps or more). Standard 30fps clips still slow down fine, but very extreme slow-mo can look a little choppy.
Because the audio is re-timed along with the video, voices rise in pitch when sped up and drop when slowed — the classic effect. If you need speed changed without the pitch shift, use the Audio Speed tool on an extracted track.
